Natural Moonstone mine
Moonstone are the semi precious category and are an important component of the sri lankan Gem industry. small village calls Meetiyagoda sitting over the '' Earth's Largest pegmatite of moonstone, Meethiyagoda is one of the few places where they are found in such high concentrations. Villages believe that this piece of land is blessed by the moon and there you can see or even go down in to the deep narrow shafts from which stones are mind.

Close to the Tsunami Photo Museum is a small memorial to the roughly 40,000 people who lost their lives just in Sri Lanka and the hundreds of thousands of others whose lives were changed forever.

Nuwaraeliya
